Frequently asked Questions

Thermal paper is paper that has been pre-coated or impregnated with special chemicals that react with heat at a specific temperature. When the thermal paper passes over the print head in a thermal printer, the areas in direct contact with the print head turn black, producing an image.

There are dozens of paper types and sizes, so if you need any help when choosing paper/thermal rolls, please call us on 0334-1656590 and let us know the make and model of the cash register or card machine that you are buying for.

We have intentionally made our site user-friendly. You can find your desired product really easily using a couple of different methods. You can use our Quick Search bar at the top right of every page – just type in a keyword, for example, 80 x 80 thermal roll, and this will bring up all related products using the keywords you have specified.

A barcode label has a series of thin and thick lines with variable spacing that normally denote an 8 to 15-digit code that is registered to correspond to a company and product. They are also used for other methods of identification, such as patients in hospitals.

Ease of identification is the main benefit that barcode labels provide. The series of thin and thick lines that are spaced differently can be scanned by a barcode reader and be transformed into a code that machines can deal with. This will identify pretty much anything you want.

We can print barcode labels in any color that your application requires. We can do this with a different color background with a black barcode, or white background with a different color barcode. The options for your barcode labels are endless at The Paper Roll.

Call our sales team on 0334-1656590 or complete our Enquiry Form and we will contact you to discuss your label requirements.

  • Direct thermal printing uses heat-sensitive paper by transferring heat through the print head of a direct thermal printer burning an image (text, images, and barcodes) directly onto a label. The print lasts 6 – 12 months before fading unless exposed to direct sunlight.
  • Thermal transfer printing uses heat to transfer an image (text, images, and barcodes) using an ink ribbon onto a label. The heat from the print head melts the ink on the ribbon which is deposited onto the label surface to create the image. The print creates a permanent image on the label.
